Dr. Braden McGowanFrom Iowa to Kansas City

Dr. Braden was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from The University of Iowa before attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan and loves to watch and talk sports. His favorite way to stay active in his free time is playing rugby. Dr. Braden played at The University of Iowa and was a member of the Palmer College Men’s Rugby Club during his time in Chiropractic school. He also likes to stay active by playing golf, lifting weights, running, and doing yoga. Dr. Braden is excited to join the Kansas City community and ready to help people get out of pain and achieve their health goals!

Chiropractic Kept Him in The Game

Dr. Braden’s first experience with a chiropractor was after suffering a neck “stinger” injury in high school football. He was unable to turn his head to the right without a severe burning pain shooting down his arm and loss of feeling in his first two fingertips. The initial doctors he saw after this injury recommended that he no longer participate in contact sports. Dr. Braden chose to go see a chiropractor before giving up on the sports he loved. After receiving chiropractic care, normal function in his neck and arm returned without the use of drugs or surgery. He was able to continue to play the sports he loves, including rugby, which he still plays today. This experience was a driving factor in his choice to become a chiropractor.

More Than Adjusting Alone

Along with giving adjustments Dr. Braden has been trained in other treatment methods to provide more benefit to his patients. For treatment of soft tissues Dr. Braden is trained in IASTM, cupping, taping, and other myofascial release techniques. For those with low back pain or intervertebral disc issues, Dr. Braden has been trained in Cox-Flexion Distraction and the McKenzie Method of Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT).

Movement and Chiropractic Go Hand in Hand

Dr. Braden graduated with a B.A. in Exercise Science from The University of Iowa and was a Rehabilitation Department Intern during his time at Palmer College of Chiropractic. The experiences and concepts he learned throughout his education allowed him to understand the importance of movement and rehabilitation along with chiropractic care. By teaching exercises and providing movements to do at home, Dr. Bradenem powers people to take control of their spinal health and overall wellbeing.
